Castle Ward - Rob Rimmer
I’m Rob Rimmer and I live in Woonton where I moved from Cumbria (which reminds me of Herefordshire - with bigger hills but fewer good pubs).
We’ve always loved Herefordshire as a family and, once retired, decided to settle in the County. I have over 30 years of experience in project management and regenerating towns, working directly for, or alongside, councils, and for the last 8 years, I have run my own consultancy business. I want to roll my sleeves up for my community and use my energy and many years of experience in local government to make sure we get a well-run and efficient County Council with an administration that is non-political and practical.
On a voluntary basis, I have been a chairman of a Housing Association, a governor of a College, and even a director of a jam and pickle-making cooperative – though I can’t cook! I love sport and nowadays I am more likely to be found in Leominster or Hereford pools, but long ago I used to play cricket a bit and rugby league a lot more – even managing one cap for Ireland. I volunteer at the St. Michael’s Hospice store in Leominster and at Queenswood Country Park. I am also part of the Almeley Green Group and Herefordshire Green Network.
Right now, for me, how we take care of our environment is front, right and centre as I don’t believe there is anything more important than the future of the landscape and rivers. But that does not mean I would neglect dealing with potholes, slowing down traffic through our villages and fixing access to and through Hereford.
I know I have a lot to learn around here and I will be knocking on as many doors as I can in the next few weeks to find out what you think we need to do to improve our environment, our economy, and our community. If you entrust me with your vote then my promise back to you is that I will listen and try my hardest not to let you down.
