Hagley Ward - Paul Andrews
My name is Paul Andrews and it has been a privilege to have been your ward Cllr for the last 4 years. I am standing for re-election in the upcoming May elections.
I am very proud of the County and our communities – particularly of the way they all came together during the difficult and unsettling times of the Covid pandemic.
Since being elected as the Hagley Ward Councillor in 2019 I have done my best to respond to resident’s requests for assistance and listen to the their concerns.
I have spent a lot of my time assisting residents with matters regarding planning and am pleased that I have been able to influence the recent and much overdue, more focussed and proactive approach to planning enforcement and due process – a tough approach I continue to encourage our refreshed and restructured officer team to move forward with.
With regards to other issues, I am very grateful I was able to work with the County Highways department and we were able to install the much needed pedestrian crossing outside St. Mary’s High School, after much
pressing and some resistance.
I am also pressing Herefordshire Council to follow through with the redesign of an equally much needed pedestrian crossing in Duke Street, Withington, adjacent to the primary school. I am also extremely supportive of the community initiative to put a foot and cycling bridge alongside the stone bridge over the Lugg and up the Tupsley pitch back to Hereford, which Herefordshire Council is now supporting in their developing transport plans, and I will be supporting the proposed introduction of 20mph and School Street zones.
As an independent Cllr. I have been pleased to work with other progressive independents as part of the Independents for Herefordshire grouping on Herefordshire Council and will continue with work with all like-minded, practical and non-partisan Cllrs. Although the Liberal Democrats and True Independents refused the offer of coalition in 2019, and have unfortunately voted with the Conservatives in opposition, I continue to hope that 2023 will allow us another chance to work together.
Yours sincerely,
Paul
