They are making a song and dance out of the fact we recently raised council tax, and have done each year since we were elected in 2019. ...the truth is THEY DID IT TOO! ...and they raised it by more. ...and they raised it by the full amount each year since 2013 |

On the surface there is not much difference in these two figures,
but the really telling fact is that inflation is far greater now
than it was when the Conservatives were running the council.
between 2019 to 2023 (Coalition council) total inflation was 17.3%
between 2015 to 2019 (Conservative Council) total inflation was only 7.8%
In other words, recent increases of council tax by the Coalition, which the Conservatives say are so outrageous, have basically just kept pace with overall inflation. While the increases which the Conservatives made, and conveniently choose to ignore,
are more than twice what inflation was at the time.
Now who’s being outrageous?
